tie downs

We bought a hitch cargo platform with our Max.  We plan to carry a small Yamaha generator and an extra propane tank.  Anyone got ideas for ways to tie them down both for anti-theft security and "bounce around" security?

Ratchet strap to tie down, bicycle cable padlock for theft and locking pin for cargo basket.

Thanks for your answer.  Do you think the gen will survive the bouncing being off the back end of the trailer?

I am not so sure about the max. Might be slightly different due to size. But before carrying anything on the back of your trailer I would strongly recommend reading some of the horror stories on the forum. While most of them pertain to bike racks I’m sure the physics behind it would still produce the shearing force that caused the bike racks to fail.

Have now towed about 4000 miles with rear rack carrying 17 gallon sewer tote and tent with no problems.  They are within the 150lb max the trailer's hitch is rated for including the rack itself.
